Here's the scoop on the Pop, Rock and Jazz Band Program at Yenney's!

We're looking for Middle School and High School aged children "bitten by the music bug" who want to hook up with other players in a "combo" type format, usually 4 - 8 players.  Mostly this is electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboards, vocals and some band and orchestra instruments.  Students should be interested in Pop, Rock, Blues, and light Jazz however we can work up almost any type of set, including Sacred, Sacred Pop and Rock, Country, Country Rock, etc  (No Rap or HipHop).

The goals of our program are:

  • to give students a better understanding of how a band practices, rehearses, pick tunes, works out problems, and organizes.
  • to help raise student musicianship through learning songs, group communication skills, and group instruction.
  • to give students a chance to perform in several local venues by working up a set (a number of songs that are rehearsed).

    What is expected?
As a member of a band there are some important expectations:
    • Make a commitment to come to all rehearsals. if you can't make it, please let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
    • Bring to every rehearsal: your instrument, a pencil, manuscript paper, and a positive attitude.
    • Make a commitment to stay with the band until our performances are finished (through June).

    How often will we meet?
Once formed, our bands meet approximately six hours a month. Some months we meet more, some months we meet less. As we near the performances, we will have a few additional rehearsals.

    What is the cost?
The cost is $70 per month.

There may be a performance fee for venues that charge a rental fee. The fee will be divided between all students enrolled in the band program.  Usually it is under $50.

We am looking forward to working with all of you!
